We welcome your suggestions – please feel comfortable to design and perfect your very own adventure days, we can happily recommend a list of suitable combinations or help with the finishing touches. In addition to the main menu of Climbing, Canoeing and Caving we offer Abseiling, Gorge Scrambling and Mountain Biking.
Combinations of activities make for great adventure breaks. By choosing a suitable mixture of activities you can really get the most out of the opportunities the Peak District National Park or any other you are staying in has to offer.
The Peak District enjoys a wide diversity of mountain biking opportunities.
Introductory mountain bike rides will usually take place on easier prepared trails. The use of prepared trails means we can achieve travel over greater distances while still remaining completely off road. The cycle routes at an introductory level may follow abandoned railway lines with some complex sections of trail added in if appropriate. Great for families or groups of friends wanting a cruisy off road experience.
More Challenging rides tend to use the moorland (upland) areas of the Dark Peak, the trails will require more physical effort and some previous experience off road cycling is beneficial. These rides may travel through areas of remote exposed open countryside and are more technically and physically challenging. Participants will need a commitment to complete these rides given the remote situations that some journeys enjoy.
During a ride leaders may introduce and demonstrate a range of useful cycling skills or use structured games to promote better handling skills over technical ground. Longer rides demand a reasonable standard of personal fitness.
It’s always good to get a fair idea of what your expectations are in advance of choosing an area to cycle in.
A discussion by telephone or by email will help us choose the right ground, distance and trail profile for you and group. From here we can arrange a meeting point and make arrangements with the most suitably located bike hire shop in advance of arrival.
