Based in Derbyshire, Pro Venture is perfectly positioned to enjoy access to a variety of venues, which are ideal for learning to canoe or kayak. Local to our base in Matlock we use clean sheltered canals, open lakes and the swift flowing River Derwent.

Pro Venture canoe and kayak instructors / leaders are highly qualified and experienced. They’ll be devoted to ensuring your experience is safe, enjoyable, progressive and fun.

We provide a range of courses that differentiate between experience levels.

Beginner and Improver Canoeing – A welcoming opportunity for any beginner to get in a boat and give it a try! The emphasis at the introductory levels are simply enjoyment, steady progress on the water and the acquisition of a few practical skills. Much of the learning will be achieved in playful activity. The sessions will be perfectly pitched through a process of continuous observation and by responding to your boat handling abilities.

If you’ve done some paddling (Canoeing or Kayaking) before and you’re aspirations are to upskill from your present level, we’ll coach you beyond the basics, build up your confidence and have you controlling your boat with more certainty in just a short time.

Personal Performance Canoe Coaching – Personal coaching programmes are all about honing in on your existing skills, complimenting them with some new ones before expanding out into new boundaries. At this level canoeists should become familiar with some companion rescue drills. The course aims are all about building up your confidence to cross the threshold into your own independent canoeing activities.
